Low Society Zine Issue #2, Ellas

$20.00

Ellas ( Spanish, They, feminine), is the second issue in the Low Society zine series featuring Chicago Photographer Carmen Ordoñez and curated by René Amado.

For this issue, Carmen focuses on females within the world of lowriding. When asked about why she chose this as her theme Carmen said, "Women have always been part of lowriding, yet their stories are often overlooked. Through these photographs, I wanted to document the many ways women participate in this community as drivers, club members, artists, organizers, mothers, daughters, partners, and friends. Their presence extends far beyond the passenger seat."

The photos chosen for this project were all shot by Carmen over the last four years in her home of Chicago as well as in California. She continues to emphasize the importance of this theme by saying, "Together, these photographs offer a glimpse into a community built on creativity, pride, tradition, and care. Rather than focusing solely on the cars, this project centers the relationships that sustain the culture and the women whose labor, knowledge, and commitment help keep it alive."
